WordPress feature request: sharing links

I wish sharing links with WordPress from mobile wasn’t so darn complex. It’s be nice to make it a one- or two-step action, instead of: write a title, choose tags, choose category, find the link, prepare body post with the link, think of something interesting to say about the link, and hit publish. Half of the time, all I want to do is reblog what was already written (while obviously fitting it within the aesthetic of my site).

One way we could get there with the mobile app is by offering a bookmarklet to auto-fill a new post, a la Tweetie.

Possibly. There are two things I appreciate about the mobile app though: I’m always logged in, and it has the feel of an app. Until that’s replicated, I think I will inherently prefer the mobile app over web.

I am trying to create tools just for purposes like these. You can see the progress at http://hea.pe

I would be more then willing try an implment some of this stuff into an email API.

Interesting… How do you plan parsing the emails? Will you allow rich markup, or will it be limited to plain text?

For some reason my full comment didn’t post.

I am currently abel to parse both the plain text, and html portions of email. I throw away the html portions right now.

My plan is to let the user choose a default of which one they want plain-text, or html. Then whitelist certain tags. So, for instance, script tags won’t be allowed. Rich markup will be used in concert with a markdown processor.

The idea is to make it the easiest way to post something from email to RSS. I looked that the wordpress.com API it would be possible to post to it, or you could just use something like http://ifttt.com in concert with hea.pe’s RSS feeds.

I really want to be feature request driven with hea.pe, so if you have an idea for something you would like to see I can figure out how to make it happen.
