Ingredients for an excellent pizza party
Making pizza is one of my great joys in life. With WordCamp US in Portland this past week, I decided to invite some of my fellow WordPress.com (“Dotcom”) Automatticians over for a home-cooked meal.
If you need inspiration for your next pizza party, here are the topping combos we enjoyed, ordered by my current preference:
- Tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ricotta (borrowed from L’Industrie)
- Tomato sauce, mozzarella, roasted garlic, pepperoni, pepperoncini (borrowed from Marzano’s)
- Grilled onions, walnuts, gorgonzola (my OG recipe, borrowed from Kate Ray)
- Pesto, mozzarella, prosciutto, dates, goat cheese, arugula (borrowed from my brother-in-law)
- Tomato sauce, mozzarella, green apple, bacon, red onion, gorgonzola (source unknown)
- BBQ sauce, red onions, corn, bell peppers, mozzarella, jalapeƱos (One of ChatGPT’s answers to “good vegetarian pizza toppings”)
All in all, I prepared and cooked 18 pizzas in ~90 minutes on my Ooni Koda 16. Counter-intuitively, many guests learned that the best way they could help was simply to clear the path between the kitchen counter and the oven. Maintaining my flow state is a key ingredient to the final product.
