Young boys complete their daily chore of collecting water for their household from the village naadi, or pond. When they are in school, their father

– boys are both in the 8th standard
– have to fill a tank daily; 8 members in their family; 10 to 15 goat, 1 cow, and 1 bullock
– task of getting water takes around 1 1/2 hours
– this naadi serves 4 to 6 villages

– consumption is sometimes 100 L per family per day because they are too poor to pay for more
